Elect Mike Csapo for Pierce County Sheriff
God, Family and the 253, we’re stronger together.
My name is Mike Csapo and I am planing on being your next Sheriff. I currently serve you as a Sergeant and Patrol Supervisor with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, which I’ve been with for the past 18 years. I also served 2 years with the University of Washington Police Department and 20 years in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman before retiring. Suffice to say, After almost 40 years in Law Enforcement I still love coming to work each day, and it’s the daily connections I get to make with the citizens of Pierce County that keeps me coming back.
I am not a politician, never have been and truthfully I don’t want to be now. But we are facing an epidemic of violence and crime in Pierce County that is unprecedented. In the last 6 months we’ve had 7 officer involved shootings in the Sheriff’s Department, with 2 deputies shot and 4 suspects deceased. That is unacceptable. Our staffing levels haven’t changed in decades, and every week deputies are held over to work additional hours after their shift to cover staffing issues. They do it without complaint, because it is their duty, but they are faced with an administration that is content to sit back and say “We’ve always done it that way”. That is an insult and dis-service to the men and women that serve you, and shows a department that is out of touch and uncaring for its citizens. The current administration has failed you, I won’t.
“Police, at all times, should maintain a relationship with the public that gives reality to the historic tradition that the police are the public and the public are the police, the police being only members of the public who are paid to give full time attention to the duties which are incumbent on every citizen in the interests of community welfare and existence”.
